Snow

Snow

The clouds are low and sad
Their long faces hoping for tears
to escape their burdened eyes.
Their tears fall
freezing to their wispy hair and beards
Their tears land
not impact of the earth
But the earth feels their pain
Slowly more tears add to the tears
Inches upon inches
centimeters upon centimeters
pain
upon
pain.

The sun comes
easing the clouds away
to mourn elsewhere
Every kid wakes up and smiles
the snow
The white blanket of cold,
and no school
no work
sleep
Everywhere, people smile
at the clouds pain
The clouds never smile
The clouds never laugh
They pass on
blowing to other mournful hills
forgotten by the mortals underneath.
